"Sunflower Children" continues to serialize a psychological healing gift for parents of children with tumors by authors Tang Jing and Kong Lingxue—"You Are a Miracle: Psychological Recovery Methods to Overcome Tumors."
This week, let’s learn about Day 27.
Phase Four:
Embarking on a Journey of Self-Care
Free writing is a personal journey between you and your subconscious, originating from a quiet room, a space of solitude, and an unrestricted soul.
There’s no need for elaborate thoughts, careful wording, adherence to form, or even a specific theme. Just write, following your inner feelings, listening to the guidance of your subconscious, and pouring out all the thoughts, feelings, emotions, struggles, fantasies, losses, joys, and sorrows that come to mind. In the realm of free writing, there is no right or wrong, no good or bad, no superiority of words—there is only you.
Accompanied by your subconscious, let yourself vent and dream freely. Writing is merely a tool and means to allow your subconscious to express itself naturally, giving an outlet for the emotions that have been bottled up inside, leading you towards the shore of self-healing.
You deserve to be free. In the kingdom of the subconscious, you are your own king. Whenever emotions surge in your heart, you can pick up a pen and write freely and passionately, expressing your feelings without restraint.
In the world of free writing, no one can repress you, deny you, or reject you. You possess absolute power and the freedom to express yourself; you are wholly loved, accepted, and respected—100% acknowledged.
You can wield your pen like a sword, charging into the shadows of the past, slicing through old pains and constraints, breaking free from dark memories and being reborn. You can raise a glass to toast, immersing yourself in the beauty and poetic ambiance of the moment, letting your enthusiasm overflow and allowing your entire world to bask in joy.
You can also ride on your dreams, breaking free from the mire of reality, galloping through endless imagination, embracing the sweetness of your dreams, and nurturing yourself into the person you have always longed to be.
This is what free writing is about. Using the feelings of your heart in the present moment as a thread, you can conduct self-analysis, vent suppressed emotions, express anger that has no other outlet, and share unspoken longings. More importantly, in this process, you will experience the delight of breathing freely, the liberation of emotional release, and the healing that comes from returning your heart to peace.
We all know that many physical illnesses are caused by the accumulation of negative emotions within. An ancient saying goes, "Depression leads to illness." If a person's state of mind is persistently gloomy, it can lead to physical ailments. Free writing has opened a door to self-healing for us.
By releasing the accumulated emotions within through this method, we can adjust and refine our subconscious energy, restoring our mental state to health and happiness, allowing our bodies and immune systems to heal themselves and promote recovery from illness.
One of my female clients was troubled by years of depression. When she was 42, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a unilateral mastectomy.
For a time after the surgery, she fell into a state of pessimism and despair, unsure of how to continue living, maintain her marriage, or carry on with her work. After several counseling sessions, I suggested she try free writing therapy, carrying a pen and notebook to write down her thoughts whenever she felt the need to express herself. She could keep it private or share it with me, her partner, or friends.
As a result, she stuck with free writing for a year and a half, intermittently filling three notebooks. This spring, I met her at a salon, and she was glowing with vitality. She told me that since she started free writing, her life had undergone an incredible transformation. “Those unpleasant events and bad moods seem to be put down when I write them out; I no longer dwell on them, and I feel so much lighter.”
Now, she is no longer depressed; her emotions are healthy and joyful, and her physical condition has gradually stabilized. She has even formed a free writing group with her peers, meeting regularly to share and help more people enjoy the healing and joy that comes from free writing.
Are you ready for free writing? Let’s experience this magical healing from the subconscious together! Remember to share it with your friends so they too can enjoy this wonderful feeling.
